Description: This sculpture is known as an Ancestral Figure, is created in the image of a family elder who has passed away. The Nias of Northern Sumatra believe that the spirit of the departed person in whose image an Adu Zatua is carved lives on on tin the statue itself, protecting the family''s interests and ensuring their fertility and prosperity.
